The Luxembourg airport Findel is the closest airport to Saarburg (ca. 37 Kilometers away, 35-40 minutes drive). However, it does not accommodate transatlantic flights or direct flights from Far East. The next closest International airport, which accept flights from all over the world, is Frankfurt-Main Airport (ca. 64 km away).

This means that you need first to fly into one of the European capitals (Zürich, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris, London) and then from there fly to Luxembourg. The Festival organizes pick up of the guests from Luxembourg airport Findel ONLY.

If you wish to use our complimentary and Optional transfer service from the Luxembourg Findel airport to Saarburg on official Arrival/Departure days ONLY, deadline is June 25, 2024 (11:59 pm Central European time), and you need to fill out online and return our transportation form.

Important notice:

The Festival’s transfer service is reserved exclusively for the Festival’s participants and visitors who formally have been registered and accepted by the Festival, as well as for the Faculty and Guest artists.

Visitors, related to any Festival participant, faculty or guest artist, but Not registered formally with the Festival, may request Festival transportation from Saarburg to the Luxembourg airport for a fee of 40 Euro per person and trip. The ability of positive decision will depend upon the availability of seats on the bus. Visitors should be prepared to arrange their own transportation in case we shall not be able to accommodate their request.

The Festival’s group transfer service can be organized ONLY for the flights arriving to/departing from Luxembourg Findel airport  between 10 am and 20:00 (8 pm) on both, Arrival and Departure days. We kindly ask all participants and faculty/guest artists to consider this while making travel arrangements. Participants/Faculty/Guest artists arriving to or departing from Findel airport Luxembourg outside these hours should be prepared to pay the above mentioned fee for privately arranged transfer through the Festival (if this is possible) or to make their own arrangements at personal cost. 

The exact transfer schedule is determined after all arrival/departure information (Transportation forms) has been collected.

We encourage all participants who intend to use our bus transfer service, to submit the Transportation form rather earlier than at the very last moment.

The Festival can assist ONLY on an official ARRIVAL (Monday, July 15, 2024) and DEPARTURE (Monday, July 29, 2024) DAYS, ONLY from Luxembourg airport Findel and ONLY those who submitted transportation form ON TIME. No exception will be made.

Those who submitted Transportation form, will be notified about pick-up arrangements shortly (2-4 days) before the arrival day.

Persons (faculty, students, guests/visitors) submitted the Transportation form after June 25, 2024 or wishing to use our transfer service on other than official Arrival/Departure days, will be charged 40 euro per Transfer/Person, payable in advance, and integrated in our bus Transfer only if there will be extra space available.

It is a personal responsibility of Festival participants to make the travelling arrangements outside of an official arrival and departure days, from any other location, except for Luxembourg airport or if they for whatever reason did not submit the transportation form..

Please have an understanding, that we ARE NOT a travel agency or 7/24 pickup Service, and are unable to provide travel information beyond what we uploaded on our website. Please use internet search engines or Travel agencies in your respective places of residency.

Travel Information is accepted ONLY via Transportation form; Information communicated via regular email will not be processed.

If you did not receive a confirmation regarding receipt of your Transportation form, this means that we did not receive it.

All students under age 14 should be accompanied by a parent or a guardian !!!

1) Shuttle bus nr.16 to Luxembourg city railway Station (ca. 15-20 minutes ride)

2) Train from Luxembourg city to Trier (ca. 55 -60 minutes ride)

3) Train from Trier to Saarburg (Bz Trier) – ca. 17-25 minutes ride

From Frankfurt

1) Train Frankfurt -Trier (ca. 3 -3 1/2 hours ride)

2) Train Trier -Saarburg (Bz Trier) – ca. 17-25 minutes ride

If you travel by Train to Luxembourg City and wish to join one of our bus Transfers from Luxembourg Findel airport, you will need to take a shuttle bus nr. 16 from Luxembourg railroad station to Findel first.
