Dr. Shumin Lin earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University, where she studied with Dr.Katherine McLin. She enjoys a prolific performing career, performing all around the world, as a soloist, recitalist, chamber and orchestra musician.
In the beginning of her career, Dr. Lin has been recognized for her outstanding teaching skills and received the top teaching award from Arizona State University for her teaching excellence. During 2007-2009, she served as the music instructor at Sierra Music Academy in Sacramento, CA. From 2009 till 2012, she was the Assistant Professor of Music at National Taitung University, Taiwan.
Since 2013, Dr. Lin has been teaching at Christ’s College Taipei.
Dr.Lin’s orchestra experience is plentiful. She served as concertmaster in various orchestras while in the States, including Arizona State University Chamber Orchestra, ASU Lyric Opera Theater Orchestra, Brevard Repertoire Symphony Orchestra, Florida State University Opera Orchestra and Musica Nova Chamber Orchestra; as a second principle in Brevard Music Center Orchestra, Brevard Opera Orchestra; and as first violinist in National Institute Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Lin was one of the founders of “The CGM (Christian Gospel Mission) Peace Symphony Orchestra” and the Star Music Society of chamber music in Taiwan since 2009.
In the past few years, she has been performing regularly at National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan, and in Seoul, South Korea.
In the summer of 2011, Dr. Lin served on the faculty of Saarburg Music Festival in Germany.
