Mira Ebert is a native of Berlin. She studied drama and music dramaturgy in Leipzig. This was followed by engagements as assistant director, especially at the Stuttgart State Opera under the direction of Klaus Zehelein. There she worked with directors such as Christof Nel, Martin Kusej, Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito.
Other tasks as an assistant led her to the San Francisco Opera and to the Salzburg Festival.
Since 2007 Mira Ebert is working as a freelance director. She staged at houses like the Junge Oper Stuttgart, the Theater Augsburg, the Thalia Theater Halle, the Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, the Junge Szene of the Semperoper Dresden.
Together with “Dorf macht Oper” – a project with members of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra – she developed a series of her most experimental productions. The project won the Prize for Cultural Education of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Media.
Mira Ebert taught as a lecturer in scenic lessons for singers at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts. With vocal students she staged Mozart’s “La finta semplice” (2013) at the Berlin University of the Arts and Handel’s “Imeneo” (2013) at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding in Munich.
