Piano: Jian Wang

Jiao Wang (piano) photoProf.Wang Jian is a piano educator and secretary of Wuhan Conservatory of Music’s piano department. He also a member of Hubei Music Association, president of the Piano Institute of Hubei Province, a member of Chinese Musicians Association and director of the Chinese Piano Society.  

Since he started to teach in 1984, he has trained many outstanding piano students who were the winners of many national and international piano competitions.  His graduate student Duan Yike  has won the first prize of the No.20th International Piano Competition in Baretta City,Italy.

Many of his students also received awards in the National Piano Competition in Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. Prof. Wang Jian has won the “Outstanding Teacher Award” for many years.  Many of his students  enrolled into the Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and other educational institutions overseas.

He has worked as a piano soloist and accompanist in both China and overseas. He has successfully performed in both Wuhan Qintai concert hall, and Hang Zhou concert hall. He has also held the Piano Trio Concert “Things Past” at Canada CBC concert hall and Sichuan Conservatory of Music Concert Hall.

Pro. Wang Jian has been the adjudicator of many international piano competitions in  Canada, Thailand and Hong Kong. He has also served as artistic director of domestic and international vocal competitions and received awards as the best piano accompanist.

In 1998, he was the first person who offered postgraduate piano and art courses in China. During 2003 to 2004, he studied at Toronto School of Music, Canada with Alexander Kats and William Shookhoff. He graduated with Toronto School of Music’s artist diploma.  He has been interviewed by “World News”, ”Ming Pao”, “Xing Tao Newspaper” and “Nice Morning”.
