A Connecticut native, Dione Chandler grew up in a family of musicians. In 2014 she joined the faculty at Stetson University as Adjunct Professor of Oboe where she is a member of the faculty woodwind quintet, Veritate Winds, and Director of the annual Double Reed Workshop, an intensive week-long summer summer camp for middle and high school students. She has served on the faculties of Texas Tech University, Florida International University, Daytona State College, and Southeastern University. Outside of the university, she maintains a private studio in Hillsborough and Volusia Counties, and for many years throughout Broward County (FL) and the Dallas (TX) school districts.

In addition to teaching, Dione maintains an active performing career. She is in her fifteenth year as principal oboist of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and regularly plays with many orchestras throughout the state including The Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic, and Bach Festival Society. Chandler has performed concertos with the Southwest Florida Symphony and the Florida International University Symphony Orchestra. She regularly collaborates with Tampa Bay-based Reflections Chamber Ensemble, which focuses on music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Dione spearheaded a reed trio commission consortium with composer Thomas McColley and premiered the work “Dance On The Sea” with members of Reflections Chamber Ensemble at the International ClarinetFest in 2017. She has been involved in several other commissioning projects and world premieres with composers such as Sydney Hodkinson, Dana Wilson, and Joseph Sowa.

Dr. Chandler holds degrees from the Florida State University, the University of Southern California, and Rice University. Her principal teachers are Eric Ohlsson, Allan, Vogel, and Robert Atherholt.

An ardent believer of community activism, Dione volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem, where she advocates for children in the courtroom. In her free time she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her wonderful husband. She feels blessed to have loving family and friends in her life.
